Do you provide any discounts?
An early registration discount ($600 per student, rather than $650) is available February 1st through May 31st (the early application period).
A sibling discount is also available from February 1st through July 24th (when application closes). The first student is still full price ($600 in early application and $650 normal price). Every sibling added after the first student receives a discount ($550 in early application and $600 regular price). Click HERE to register.
What is the difference between application and registration?
Application is where you begin the process of enrolling your student. This includes filling out an application form, having references refer your family and your student. Application provides a time for the teacher, family and student to understand more about each other and whether this class will be a good fit for everyone.
Registration is when application has been approved and payment made. This essentially means your student is enrolled and has a spot in the worldview class for the coming year.
Where do you meet?
Online and in person options are available. If you are interested in being in person, please email Elizmen Ghim at worldviewequipping@gmail.com, for details.
What curriculum do you use?
Worldviews of the Western World in Cornerstone Curriculum, by David and Shirley Quine. To get a complete listing of the curriculum for each grade, visit the class pages in the Course Descriptions tab, where you can click for more info. Click HERE to visit the tab as well.
Is this a classical education approach to the arts and literature?
It is a BIBLICAL classical education approach. While we read the classics, we are always asking, "What is the worldview?" This changes the approach from simply appreciating the classics, to actually analyzing them.
Are there any prerequisites to taking this class?
Because much of the homework involves reading, writing and thinking critically, it is important that your student demonstrates some skill, interest and willingness to learn in these areas. The Worldview Equipping Code of Conduct also asks that your student display the 4 "H" Hallmarks, by being: Humble, Honest, Honorable and Hard-Working. You can read the Code of Conduct HERE.
Is this class rigorous?
Obviously the higher the grade, the more is expected. In 8th grade, you only write 2-3 essays in the school year. In 12th grade, you write 2-3 essay per semester. However, overall, this is a rigorous program because it covers so many subjects in each grade. It will take your student less time than doing the 3-5 subjects the worldview course covers. But it will take your student longer than the average literature subject.
The expectation in most grades is 1 1/2-2 hours of study.
How can I be involved in my student's class?
The mission of Worldview Equipping is to come alongside Christian homeschool parent in equipping their students to think Biblically. As the parent, you are asked to check in on your student's progress and grades at least twice a month and to read the short class summary released every week after class. Depending on your student's ability to complete their homework, you may have to check in with your student to make sure they have turned their work in the day before class.
You are not required to, but are highly encouraged to: sit in on class, engage your student in conversation about worldview topics and read the books they are reading. You can read Worldview Equipping Policies (which include the Parent Expectations) HERE.
Is Worldview Equipping part of a homeschool organization or network?
No. Worldview Equipping was started by Elizmen Ghim, a Cornerstone worldview graduate who desired to bring a Biblical classical education to students. Worldview Equipping was an easy way to officially refer to the 5 classes (grades 8-12) that she started offering. Understand more through the About page, by clicking HERE.
